Do I Need a Website as a small business owner?
A topic of conversation that comes up here and there from potential clients on welcome calls is,
“Is this service even meant for me? Do I even need a website where am I at in my business?”
And the short answer is, I don't know. Really there are so many different ways to measure success and depending on where you are going and where you are and where you're going, so depending on your goals, it's really hard for me to tell you if it's time for a website.
Here are the things that I do know.
To have a modern, accessible home online to send your potential clients where they can learn all about your business, your services, and a place they can connect with you is really an essential service that you need to have as a small business owner.
Bad Website = Unhappy Customers:
Having all this information and having a place to send your audience is really an invaluable service that most small businesses should have. That being said, it's really important to do it correctly. There's nothing that you or I or anyone else hate more than jumping onto a website and it being terrible to navigate, doesn't work on the mobile phone or something like that. So if you're going to actually have a website, make sure you get it done correctly.
Sophisticated Branding:
The third thing is branding. Obviously, I am a brand strategist, so this is something that's important to me, but I think that it's valuable to really mention that once you have a brand standard put in place, it really brings your level of professionalism from down here to up here. And what that means is your clients know, like, and trust you waaaay more than if you have something else that’s poorly put together.
High Traffic, Paid Ads and SEO:
If you are looking for a high amount of traffic to your website, especially when it's first built, it's valuable to incorporate some sort of budget for paid advertising. Most advertising is just set up as organic, so if you're looking for all of a sudden an influx of traffic to your website, that won't happen unless you have paid ads, so keep that in your budget.
Website Management:
The last thing I want to mention is who will be updating your website on a monthly, daily, weekly basis, depending on the content that you have on your website. This is considerably important for e-commerce developers or people who are writing blogs regularly. If you aren't able to invest in the time for the learning curve of updating your website, which is included in all of my packages training, but if you're not willing to invest in that, you can either hire out or get it figured out yourself. And that takes a lot of time.
So, are you ready for a website? Probably, yes. Is your business ready for a website? I don't know, depends. If you're able to go through all of those items and say yes, yes, yes, yes, then for sure.
There is no reason why you shouldn’t have a home online for your business.
Websites are set up to create traffic and make more people engaged with you and learn about you and connect with you and sign up for your programs and sell your products and read your blogs, and etc, etc.
If this sounds like something that you're interested in, let's connect and I can help you out.
